Project Safe Haven
Our Shelter, Their Future

For many years now our hope has been to be able to relocate our shelter which has been the place we call home for many abandoned and homeless dogs and cats in our community since 1989.  The shelter has no indoor kennels for our dogs and the pens and grounds are not viable for the proper housing of our animals.  Located within yards of a busy railway, the shelter is in constant need of repair. On April 4, 2025, flooding has once again damaged our current shelter, rendering it even more unsafe for our animals, staff and volunteers.  But there is hope—and with your help, we can rebuild and continue our mission of compassion and care.

A generous foundation in Arizona has heard our story and has offered us $50,000 in seed funding to help us get started on the path to building a new, safe, and sustainable animal rescue shelter. In addition, they have pledged a remarkable $200,000 in matching funds. This means that for every dollar you contribute, the foundation will match it—doubling your impact.

WE STILL NEED LAND!!   We are actively searching for 2 -3 acres in close proximity of the Arkadelphia area.  â€‹

If we are unable to take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity our charity foundation partner has given us, we will never make this happen and our shelter will be forced to close, leaving our community and the homeless animals without any means to help the growing problem of abandoned animals.

Recent flooding

This flooding was caused by a weather system that stalled over our area causing hours of heavy rain.  Our location sets in a low lying area next to a drainage ditch that cannot handle this type of runoff.

The waters rose so quickly we were forced to evacuate the building and move all our dogs to temporary housing in a building the city provided.  We were able to move them all back after a clean-up that is still on-going.
